Complaint Company installed new air conditioner in 2012. They refused to honor the warrantee to replace a handler motor that is not functioning. Please see below comments.
Desired Settlement I request that they honor the warrantee and replace the motor. Parts are covered but labor is not. I was told that I would have to pay extra for copper tubing. The air conditioning unit was installed by Kelly Air Systems in 2012 and is covered by a warrantee.
Business Response Kelly Air Systems apologies for any misunderstanding and appreciates the opportunity to explain the situation between the customer and ourselves. Kelly Air Systems offers a 1 year labor warranty on all our new installs to the original customer. Several things have happened since this system was installed, 1 the house has been sold and our original customer is no longer there and 2 another air conditioning company has serviced our installed equipment. All parts from this system installed is covered under the manufacturer's warranty, usually between 5 to 10 years depending on the manufacturer and part. We installed the system in March 2012 for the previous homeowner and the labor warranty expired in March 2013. The current homeowner advised us that she had another air conditioning company servicing her equipment and they had told her that the blower motor was bad and needed to be replaced. She had contacted us to replace the warranted fan motor and we advised her of the labor cost involved. She accepted the original phone estimate and scheduled that same day to come and repair said part. After inspecting the current situation of the install, the technician noticed that the way the original copper tubing was ran would create an issue with installing said part and would take a little longer than estimated (maybe an additional hour only). We advised the current homeowner before any work was performed which at that point she became very angry and felt we were there to take advantage of her situation. She refused the service and our technician was told to leave, no charges were billed. Kelly Air Systems strives to provide fast, courteous service, our efforts and goals are to provide customer satisfaction.
