Smartphone Market to Grow 55 Percent in 2010

The worldwide market for smartphones is expected to grow 55.4 percent this year over last year, according to the Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal.

International Data Corp. who conducted the research expects mobile phone vendors to ship 269.6 million mobile devices this year compared to 173.5 million in 2009.

The smartphones to watch IDC says are Android-operated devices, which are growing quickly in popularity.
