Skimming Scams Get More Sophisticated

Identity thieves have a lot of tricks up their sleeve, using more sophisticated devices to steal credit cards and help them in their trade. Recently, a new law passed in Rochester, New York, making it illegal to possess a credit card skimmer or scanning device, according to 13WHAM.  

While thieves are not limited to working in one area of the country, credit card skimmers are still a problem nationwide. Best Buy raised their checkout keyboards and angled their computers so consumers can see their credit card transactions.  Still, experts recommend when making purchases with your credit card, to use your free hand to cover the key pad and consumers using credit cards at ATM's should check their billing statements monthly.
