Retailers Recognize the Power of Social Networking

Retailers are finally recognizing the power of social networks such as facebook and twitter, and are giving loyal customers sneak peeks at hot Black Friday deals, according to The Boston Harold.   

In the past, stores have used newspapers and magazines to get the word out about sales but with sites like twitter -- it only takes a minute to tweet and once tweeted, can be re-tweeted over and over, spreading to a wider audience.  

And an even bigger benefit for the stores is that using these networks to reach their customers is that it’s free.   

In addition to social networking, stores like Toys R’ Us launched their own mobile app this weekend, allowing customers to shop through the store’s inventory using their mobile phones.
