Privacy Groups File Complaints With The FTC About Facebook

Since Facebook launched its new privacy controls earlier this month, ten privacy groups have filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commission, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The main complaint is that Facebook is making private information “too public.” Private information like a person’s gender and their friends’ list, under the new settings, become "publicly available information." This allows Facebook to share this information with its software developers who create services for users.

The privacy groups also want the FTC to investigate Facebook’s practices and most importantly, require Facebook to restore its privacy settings.
