Phishing Emails Pose As Shipping Companies

There are so many holiday scams out there, and now, there's one more consumers should be aware of: phishing e-mails that pose as shipping companies like UPS and FedEx, according to PR Web. The e-mails messages include an attachment or link to an invoice of a lost package but if you click on the link or download the attachment, a virus infects your computer system that steals your login info which can be used by the criminals.

Even worse, you would not know that a virus has infected your system because it is code encrypted, making it harder for antivirus software like Norton or McAfee to detect. Consumers should also be on the look out for fake e-mails from facebook and Western Union.

To ensure your computer is not affected, make sure your antivirus software is updated, avoid opening attachments or links in unsolicited e-mails, be cautious of e-mails or popups that ask for your personal and financial information. Finally, never click on links in an e-mail, especially if you do not know the sender.
