New Rules for TVs Sold in California

Posted Thursday, November 19, 2009

There are new rules in place for televisions sold in California. Approved by the California Energy Commission, the new regulations mean that by 2011, all TVs up to 58 inches must use a third less power and by 2011, 50-percent less, the San Jose Business Journal reported.

Consumers seem to be against the idea. According to a Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal poll, 69 percent of those responding were opposed to the ban.

Television manufacturers say that the rules will cripple innovation and will force them to make TVs with poorer picture quality and fewer features.

What do you think? Will consumers in California buy online or travel to another state to buy the TV of their choice?
