
Recently, The National Retail Federation did a survey to gauge the public’s interest in holiday shopping, according to
American Consumer News.
The survey showed that 57 million have definite plans to shop while 77 million will wait to see what deals are offered and 66% of consumers plan to shop at discount stores with 62.4% spending money in department stores. It also showed that twenty-seven percent of consumers prefer to shop online this weekend. Finally, over 25% of shoppers plan to take advantage of early-bird specials with 10% willing to shop between 12am-3am Friday.
Overall, the survey results consumers are slightly more confident this holiday season compared to two years ago. But that confidence may not be enough for retailers who faced poor sales in recent months due to less consumer spending because of the recession.
