Microsoft In Trouble Over Patent Infrigement

Yesterday, a federal appeals court ordered Microsoft to quit selling its Word program because of patent infringement, according to Yahoo News.   

The Toronto based company, i4i Inc. sued Microsoft over a small piece of code in its current Microsoft Word program that allows users to edit XML, the code that tells a program how it should read and interpret a document.   

i4i Inc. is happy with the Texas ruling because it's protects the rights of small inventors. Users who purchased Word and Office before January 11 will not be affected by the court's decision.
