Mesa Air Group filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy today, according to Phoenix Business Journal.

Currently, Mesa flies regional routes for US Airway, United Airlines and Delta and asked a New York City court to allow them to continue flying while it reorganizes.  Mesa Air has 130 planes, serving 127 cities flying under US Airways Express and United Express.  The company hopes that they can eliminate excess aircrafts and by filing for bankruptcy, they can also come back better suited to meet consumers' needs.
