McDonalds Gets Attacked by Hackers

Global fast-food chain McDonalds was subject to an attack by hackers who stole email addresses and phone numbers of many of their consumers.

The stolen data was not directly hosted by McDonalds rather Silverpop Systems, a firm that provides marketing services. TNW reported that as a result of the data breach, some 105 companies that use Silverpop's marketing services could have data compromised in the attack.

Following the attack, McDonalds immediately emailed their users notifying them of the attack. Silverpop also issued a statement explaining that as soon as the company noticed suspicious activity in a small percentage of their customers accounts they took aggressive measures to stop the activity and prevent future attempts.
