Southwest Airlines is done testing its Wi-FI service and is now ready to move on, according to The Washington Business Journal.

The airline has signed an equipment purchase contract with their Wi-Fi provider, Row 44 and are in the process of getting equipment ordered and installed on aircrafts.

Row 44 uses satellites to transmit broadband signals to the aircraft, while Aircell LLC, uses ground-based transmitters for American Airlines and Delta.   The installation process will take place later this year at the rate of 15 aircrafts per month with the ultimate goal to fit all 540 planes with Wi-Fi service by early 2012.
