Identity theft can happen to anyone, even to someone in a position such as the chairman of the Federal Reserve.

Recent news came out that Ben Bernanke's personal checking account became entangled in an elaborate identity-theft scheme, according to an article in USA Today. Police reports state that thiefs got their hands on his personal info after his wife Anna's purse was stolen last August at a Starbucks in D.C.

Losses from the scheme totaled more than $2.1 million and involved at least 10 financial institutions.
