How to Receive Your FREE Credit Report Once A Year

Posted Monday, November 29, 2010 in Credit-Mortgages-Finances

Every consumer is entitled to one FREE credit report per year from each of the three major credit bureaus - Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian. Consumers can either receive all three reports at once or stagger them throughout the year.

A credit report contains information on where you live, how you pay your bills, and whether you’ve been sued, arrested, or filed for bankruptcy. Nationwide consumer reporting companies sell the information in your report to creditors, insurers, employers, and other businesses that use it to evaluate your applications for credit, insurance, employment, or renting a home.

We receive many complaints from consumers who use websites found on the internet or heard on TV to receive their free credit report. Most consumers allege they were automatically enrolled in a credit reporting service for a fee, or they were charged for their “free” credit report. Your BBB recommends visiting www.AnnualCreditReport.com to receive your free credit report.

This is in correspondence to a letter received from the BBB regarding a complaint against a company called Safety Enterprises where the case # 90054451 was closed because BBB felt that the company did every thing to satisfy the customers all the company did was made promises to immediately return monies given to them by the customers in which they have not received. I think it is unfair to the customers that because the company promised to return their monies that the case was closed they did not return their monies only promised to.Why the BBB felt like because the company said they would return the money and did not that they complied to what they were suppose to do then I received a letter stating the case was closed this is wrong. I have advised the customers to take the company to small claims court for their money. I don't feel that this case should have been closed until the customers were satisfied.
