Gourmet Burger Joints: The New Fad?

Posted Tuesday, July 20, 2010 in Food & Beverage

People seem to be craving gourmet burgers as "better burger" joints are popping up all over the U.S.

"Better burger" restaurants are one of the fastest-growing parts of the restaurant industry, according to The Detroit News. It's a market that has plenty of room to grow - representing only two percent of the $65 billion burger market.

The reason joints such as Five Guys, Elevation Burger, Smashburger, Meatheads and Bobby's Burger Place are doing so well is that their burgers are more economical than most other high-end foods, The Detroit News said. Times are tough so people opt for cheaper options. These places are better quality than fast food but not expensive as most table-service restaurants.

What's the verdict: have you tried any of these gourmet burger joints? Are they good? Worth the value?
