Google Getting Into Broadband Service

Google announced Wednesday it plans to launch an experimental fiber-optic network to service between 50,000 and 500,00 homes in a small number of locations around the country.

Google reported on their blog that the service will deliver Internet speeds "more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today with 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections."

They also said they would charge "competitive prices" for the service.
