Gmail Goes Down ... Again

Posted Thursday, September 24, 2009

If you tried to access Gmail today, you probably ran into some problems. It's only been a month since their last major outage, with this one causing connection errors and Google Talk failure. I was unable to use my contact list and had trouble accessing my account.

An earlier message posted on Google stated:

"We're aware of a problem with Google Mail affecting a small subset of users. The affected users are unable to access Google Mail, but we've provided a workaround below. We will provide an update by September 24, 2009 11:29:00 AM UTC-4 detailing when we expect to resolve the problem. Please note that this resolution time is an estimate and may change.

You can access Gmail via IMAP."

As of now, the problem seems to be fixed. Wonder what happened?
