Flight Delays Cost U.S. Society $32 Billion Each Year

$32.9 billion is what flight delays cost U.S. society each year, according to a study by researchers at five universities. Travelers lose the most when they miss a business meeting or arrive home late, USA TODAY said.

The study said that the cost to individuals in lost time and inefficiency was $16.7 billion. Only a small number of flyers lose about half of that cost. Those were the ones who missed connections or whose flights were canceled.
