Email Provider Affected by Huge Security Breach

The world's largest permission-based email marketing service, Epsilon, reported a breach in its security this past Friday, according to Mashable.

So far it looks like users have had their email addresses exposed in the breach. The list keeps growing of companies affected and so far includes:

  • TiVo
  • Kroger
  • JPMorgan Chase
  • Capital One
  • Citi
  • Walgreens
  • LL Bean

I live in north Florida and I received a notice from Walgreen's Drugs that my email address had been breached, but no other information was leaked. I wonder how that could be and how are they sure?

So what are we as consumers to do about this? I got emails from 3 companies who were impacted, but I'd describe them as completely half-hearted apologies.
