Did Al Capone Start the BBB?

I laughed a bit when I ran across this article ... someone wrote into AZ Central asking if the Better Business Bureau was started by Al Capone as an extortion racket. It's funny that this rumor keeps floating around.

Clay Thompson, an Arizona Republic columnist goes on to answer: "Gee, I'd never heard that one before, but apparently it pops up every now and then. Alphonse Gabriel Capone was born on Jan. 17, 1899. The Better Business Bureau was founded in 1912. So unless Capone was a 13-year-old extortion prodigy he didn't found BBB."
