DC Subway Now Has Cell Phone Service

If you live in the DC area and take the Metro to work, I'm guessing you noticed a bit more chatter on your ride this morning? Today marked the completed first phase of a project to expand wireless service to Sprint Nextel, AT&T, and T-Mobile (only Verizon worked prior).

The first phase of the project saw Metro's 20 busiest stops get service. Phase 2 will add service to all of the stop by the end of 2010 and phase 3 will add service in the tunnels and will be completed by 2012.

Stations that now have service:
Ballston, Bethesda, Columbia Heights, Crystal City, Dupont Circle, Farragut North, Farragut West, Federal Center SW, Foggy Bottom-GWU, Friendship Heights, Gallery Place-Chinatown, Judiciary Square, L’Enfant Plaza, McPherson Square, Metro Center, Pentagon, Pentagon City, Rosslyn, Smithsonian and Union Station.
