Consumers nationwide are increasing the use of smartphones while shopping. For retail and online shopping, the use of smartphones has risen dramatically over the past year. While only 28% of U.S. consumers have smartphones, that percentage is expected to grow to almost half of consumers by 2011. How are shoppers using their phones? Well,
- 19% posted a good deal to their Facebook or Twitter accounts;
- 33% emailed or texted someone about a great deal or experience in a retail store
- 35% looked for discounts, deals, coupons, or discount codes
- 34% checked product availability at retail stores or websites
