In tough economic times, earning a little extra cash can go a long way. But according to
WISN 12 News, con artists are starting to get more creative in the way they con people.
One of those tactics is paying their victims to gain their trust before taking their money, through mystery shopping.
The scammers give their victims money up front to compare prices at stores. Seems like a legitimate service at first but wait – the scammers send their mystery shopper a fake check for $1,000 or more to test the local Western Union wire service.
This is where the con artists really get their money and if consumers are not careful, they could lose their money.
The Better Business Bureau advises consumers to check out
BBB’s reliability report online or download the
BBB’s Accredited Business Locator so you can avoid being scammed.
