Ever wondered which scams are most prevalent on Facebook? Security company BitDefender has compiled a graphic containing this information, illustrating the types of scams on the site, reports AOL Tech.

BitDefender found that the most widespread scams are profile insight apps, which promise Facebook users information such as how many people have viewed their profile, or how many people have deleted them as a friend. The security company estimates that these scams have generated more than 14 million clickthroughs. In addition, the social games offered by Facebook as well as image and video posts also present common scams.

It's true!!! it is a scam, I fell for it. It makes u think ur going to find out who viewed your profile; when in fact in order to do this u have to pick at least 2 game apps. Then when u do this and go to play the game a virus infects ur computer. So most definitely, BEWARE....and don't fall for this SCAM!!!!

Thank you for your question Mr. Russell. These types of apps disguise themselves as information relating to your Facebook page. They use gimmicks such as “see who viewed your profile.” I use the word “scam” because these figures are often made up just to lure people into clicking on the link, subjecting users to privacy risks, e-threats and spam. I unfortunately do not have the figures as to what this is costing.

This doesn't explain the scam, or why you say it is a scam. If someone wants information and clicks on it and the price is passed on to businesses that pay for clicks, then why don't you provide some figures as to what this is costing... and who is paying? Calling it a scam is misleading. Tell us why!
