Consumer Watchdog groups asked the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Justice and Congress to investigate Comcast's “TV Everywhere” promotion, according to
Consumer Affairs.
The major concern is that Comcast's service blocks out competition in the Internet TV market. The service allows Comcast subscribers to watch various TV shows online but only if they have subscribed to the company's traditional cable service. Another worry is that the service is designed so that consumers cannot cancel their subscription or turn to competing services that use over-the-air digital streams.
But the no-compete Internet TV isn't the only reason Comcast has recently come under fire. Last month, Comcast merged with NBC-Universal, making them the nation's largest cable and content provider.
