BBB Warns of Holiday Scams

Thieves around this time of the year tend to be more like the Grinch who stole Christmas, putting out all the stops to scam people and ruin their holiday, according to CBS2.

The most popular holiday scam is online e-cards. They're fast, easy and most importantly, they're free. The scammers send out unsolicited spam e-mail disguised as holiday greetings but in reality, are loaded with viruses, malware and spyware which download to your computer.

Another more common scam is fake post office or FedEx invoices which are aimed at stealing your credit card or personal information. Similar e-mails from banks asking to validate your information in order to access your account are also fake.

Other scams include holiday ringtone download, fake gift cards and refurbished items that are sold as news.
