BBB Offers Tips For Buying Olympic Memorabilia Online

The Better Business Bureau wants to warn Olympic sports enthusiasts/collectors to buy safely when shopping online for memorabilia.

Authentic Olympic Vancouver merchandise will have a unique hologram sewed into each item as proof of its authenticity. BBB offers these tips for when purchasing memorabilia online: research the value of the item you wish to purchase before buying it and make purchases using a credit card. If the seller turns out not be legit, you can dispute the charge with your credit card company and may be eligible for reimbursement.

Most importantly, only buy items from authorized sellers. A special online store is set-up for buying merchandise from the 2010 Vancouver Olympics games at vancouver2010/store.com.  But if you don't want to use that store and instead, purchase from ebay, read seller reviews. If you're using craigslist, buy local and never wire money as payment.

Finally, if the item you wish to purchase is widely advertised, the item won't likely gain value for years.
