6 Tips to Keep College Students Insured

It's that time of the year again where parents are celebrating and students are heading back to their dorm rooms. But, before parents relax without the kids, they should first check up on their insurance. 

Some parental policies apply to college students, but if they don't, you'll need to make arrangements to keep the kids covered. The Detroit News posted an article from insure.com offering these tips:

• If your child takes a car to school, notify your insurance company that the car will be parked at another location, or it could cancel out a claim later. This could raise or lower your premium.

• Students who own a car must have their own insurance and need to inform their agent the car will be away from home.
