    My dad was discharged today and has colon cancer and recently had a colostomy done. The hospital staff and Dr. Lopa **** insisted that a paper prescription was acceptable even though the pharmacists we went to told us it is Maryland law that controlled substances need an electronically sent prescription. I had to argue and beg for the script to be sent after being told that I should go to a pharmacy that will take the paper prescription and that "they do it all the time." They sent the prescription to the wrong pharmacy but it was also closed due to July 4th weekend. We found another one that was open and had to argue for the script to be sent there. By the time the pharmacy received it, they were closing and we found out his insurance company needs to speak to the prescribing doctor to authorize the script anyway. I had also tried to speak to his case manager regarding billing and insurance a few days earlier to which she replied that she only validates insurance and I should focus on him getting better. Due to the gross negligence of this staff my dad is suffering immense pain. His surgeon and primary doctor were fantastic but Dr. ******* reluctance to help us caused a delay of 3hrs that could have been spent resolving the insurance issue and giving my dad the care he needs. I am seeking urgent action from the staff to work with his insurance so he can receive his medication he needs. I have attached the paper prescription and also a screenshot of the law the staff denied knowing of.
