Arlington, Va. – Paul M. Rand, President and Chief Executive Officer of Zócalo Group, was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Council of Better Business Bureaus (CBBB).  Rand also serves as immediate past president of the Word of Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA).

“As the founder and leader of one of the industry’s leading agencies specializing in word of mouth and social media marketing, Rand brings a valuable perspective to the Council of Better Business Bureaus and our Board,” said Stephen A. Cox, President and CEO of the Council of Better Business Bureaus (CBBB).  CBBB is the network hub for 122 Better Business Bureaus in the United States and Canada.  Like BBBs, CBBB is dedicated to fostering honest and responsive relationships between businesses and consumers, instilling consumer confidence and contributing to a trustworthy marketplace for all.

Prior to launching Zócalo Group – a division of Omnicom Group, Inc. (NYSE: OMC) and Ketchum -- Rand was a Partner, Executive Committee member and the Global Chief Development and Innovation Officer for Ketchum, one of the world’s leading public relations firms.  Rand also served as the director of Ketchum’s Global Technology Practice and managing director for its Midwest operations.  Prior to Ketchum, Rand was the founder and CEO of Corporate Technology Communications (CTC),    Omnicom/Ketchum acquired CTC in 2001.

The BBB is a recognized resource to help consumers find businesses and brands they can trust,” noted Rand.  “And word of mouth and social media are increasingly a key part of that process.

Rand has been featured and/or quoted on business, marketing and word of mouth issues in outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Business Week, National Public Radio, The Chicago Tribune, PRWeek, AdWeek, Advertising Age and numerous other outlets.
