Arlington, VA, June 30, 2010 – The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is calling on all businesses with a strong sense of accountability and responsibility aimed at advancing trust in the marketplace to enter the 2011 BBB International Torch Awards for Marketplace Excellence.
“Businesses large and small that have worked to uphold the trust and respect of their customers, employees, vendors, shareholders and communities are encouraged to enter this competition,” said Steve Cox, president and CEO of the Council of Better Business Bureaus.
The Marketplace Excellence award is open to all for-profit businesses in North America whether or not they are accredited by BBB. Each year, businesses of varied sizes, geographical location and industry, are nominated by customers, employees, industry groups and local BBBs. Businesses may also nominate themselves.
In addition to the Marketplace Excellence Award, BBB is pleased to announce the addition of two new award categories - Excellence in Customer Care and Leader in Customer Care Awards. These two awards, sponsored by the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals International (SOCAP), will recognize a business and a corporate leader who are committed to excellence in customer care.

There is a $100, non-refundable entry fee. Nominations and entries for the 2011 Marketplace Excellence and Excellence in Customer Care Awards will be accepted through September 13, 2010.
Honorees for the BBB International Torch Awards in the following categories, Advancing Marketplace Trust, Consumer Leadership and Leader in Customer Care, are selected via a closed nomination process and are not open to the public.
