Arlington, VA, March 21, 2006 – Nominations are being accepted for the eleventh annual Better Business Bureau International Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics.
The BBB Torch Award was designed to recognize those businesses in our communities committed to maintaining exceptionally high standards of ethical behavior in buyer and seller relationships. “Winners of the International Torch Award set an example for businesses of all sizes to follow. I encourage the many outstanding companies that work to uphold the trust and respect of their customers, employees, shareholders and vendors to submit an entry for this internationally recognized award,” said Steve Cole, president and CEO of the Council of Better Business Bureaus.
The award is open to all for-profit businesses that serve retail and wholesale markets in the U.S., Canada or communities in Mexico that are within the service area of Better Business Bureaus. Nominees must be in good standing with the Better Business Bureau; however, membership in the BBB is not a qualification for entry. Businesses whose primary markets are government entities (local, state or federal) are not eligible; nor are not-for-profit organizations. There is a $75, non-refundable entry fee.
Nominations and entries for the 2006 BBB International Torch Award will be accepted through April 10, 2006.
The competition rules, guidelines, judging criteria and entry form are available by visiting the Torch Award Web site at http://www.bbb.org/BizEthics/torchAward.asp or by contacting the Council of Better Business Bureaus at 703.247.9312.
