FDA Issues Public Warning of Continued Extortion Scam

Posted Tuesday, February 08, 2011 in Health Care Services

The FDA warned the public last month about an ongoing extortion scam run by FDA impersonators.  Consumers should continue to be on the lookout for the scam as it continues to thrive.

The scammers call the victims and state they are FDA special agents or law enforcement officials.  (In a lot of cases, the victims have previously purchased drugs over the phone or the Internet.)  The scammers tell the victims that buying drugs over the phone or internet is illegal and that lawful actions will be taken against the victim unless they pay a “fine.”  The “fines” range from $100-$250,000 and must be paid via wire transfer.  If the victim does not agree to pay the fine, they are threatened with arrest, property searches, or physical harm.

The scammers not only illegally impersonate the FDA, but they also continually change the phone number they call from in order to appear as though they are here in the United States.

In voting does it not create misunderstanding to know the background of the person u are voting. I have had more than one generation of complaints in the way in which medicine-doj handle people in general. It took more than one person to make a statement. Does the patient suffer or get better health, Is it better to which change the care to another physician? Can and will all the persons involve understand the reasoning by this ws just one time, because that is the one time that can make the difference. Can you change your living arrangement when u have VAWA in this case, in any manner verbal or physical which would make the care giver, and the patient's relationship that is not understood by a third party. In this case the third party ws stated to make a statement I do not want to live in this home w/ these care givers, home or hospital. -hca/HCA 3:51pm

My complaint is in exposing patients to care w/ persons whom are considered violent. In a rehab home there has been the look of care but the feel of being uncomfortable, some say it's okay others make the statement it is not the best place to be. And can a person who volunteers but does not have the understanding or credentials place both and the institution. On the other hand can the person whom has never had the licensing but has the common sense regarding personal service. on one visit, the patients were not being treated humanely and it would just require a little more care on there own part. hca/HCA 3:39pm Wednesday 2/16/11
