Since 1971, CBBB's partnership with world-class corporations continues to produce new industry self-regulation programs that tangibly demonstrate that credible, accountable, transparent self-regulation programs can work effectively to advance the shared interests of consumers and the business community.
Both the FTC and public opinion surveys have sent a clear message that industry needs to demonstrate its trustworthiness. This makes the work of the BBB more relevant than ever. As new marketplace issues surface, CBBB has the thought leadership and industry connections in place to quickly mobilize and respond. Recent examples include
Children's Food & Beverage Advertising
,
Online Privacy
,
Behavioral Advertising
and Green Marketing.
This infrastructure is largely funded by industry's ongoing support of CBBB, and
allows CBBB to demonstrate that self-regulation can provide an effective alternative to government regulation
...and demonstrate that industry is responsive to government and public concerns.
Time and time again, the learning shows that a unified, accountable self-regulatory program provides a much larger public policy footprint and greater credibility than the sum of individual industry member efforts.
