We hired Advanced Renovations to complete a home remodel in January 2022. This included a kitchen remodel, a bathroom remodel, laundry room remodel, new flooring install, drywall installation, and new trim installation. During the process, multiple issues arose which Advanced Renovations has not rectified. As of November 2023, our contact at the company, Cliff M*****, is no longer responding to any attempts to contact him regarding the issues with the work. The issues with the job include the following: - Flooring installed improperly; flooring not measured and cut correctly, leaving gaps between tiles - Flooring not completely installed in bathroom; closet in bathroom has missing pieces of flooring - Contractor spilled blue cabinet paint on new flooring in laundry room and did not replace flooring - Kitchen previously had island that was removed; flooring base beneath island was to be fixed before new flooring was installed, however Contractor attempted to level floor using piece of cardboard for box of new flooring; floor now sags in this area when stepped on - Kitchen cabinets not mounted flush to wall - Kitchen cabinet hardware installed incorrectly (not level/crooked/loose); Contractor attempted to fix by redrilling holes for hardware and patching previous holes; this lead to cabinet doors needing to be repainted; cabinets were initially painted by separate company hired by Advanced Renovations using a sprayer to paint the cabinets and doors; Advanced Renovations attempted to repaint damaged cabinet doors with foam brush, causing inconsisency in the texture and quality on the cabinet doors; Advanced Renovations agreed to replace cabinets doors but has not done so and will not respond when attempted to contact regarding this issue - Paint on shoe rail installed around kitchen cabinets began peeling within one month after installation; Advanced Renovations not honoring warranty to fix issues for 1 year See attached document for further issues and photos

I would absolutely not recommend this company for any type of work. Some of the major issues we had were; Workers not showing up when scheduled, workers showing up without the supplies needed because they did not know what work needed to be done, weeks with no contact, and major issues with the quality of work done. They put cardboard down under the tile to try and level the subfloor, the tiles were not cut correctly, so there are many gaps, they have “patch painted” the cabinets in places so that the paint is uneven, the cabinet doors were not hung correctly, the hardware installed is crooked. We have been reaching out to them for months with no contact.

    Advanced Renovations LLC Response

    01/19/2024

Advanced Renovations, LLC. Phone ************ Fax ************  January 19, 2024 This is response is to address the complaints given by Mrs. ******* and the project we completed for her. We were not the painters on this project. We put Mrs. ******* in contact with a third party painter. So any painting items are not directed to us, even though she continues to state that we are responsible for painting. They wanted more painting done that was in scope but did not want to pay for the upgrade. We had to monitor this project continually, which we do always, but for this project it was because our crews were told by homeowner that items not specified in the contract where approved by management. They were not and we ended up doing work on things off scope and never getting paid for them. We shimmed the cabinets in the kitchen to make all cabinets level. This is done with any company on any cabinet install. Walls and floors are not always level or straight and require shimming to modify the height of the cabinets. It is important to clarify that when we do projects we use a draw schedule for payments from the homeowner. The draw will be paid after certain work is completed. If homeowner is not satisfied with the work on each phase they are not required to pay until items are to their satisfaction. We were paid for every phase. And at the end we were paid final payment, which means she was satisfied with the work to completion. It has been many months since this project was completed and now there is a complaint lodged for work that was not performed by us or work she paid for per the draws on the contract. So we consider this contract closed and all work completed. While we do our utmost to make sure every job runs smoothly and completed to customer satisfaction. In some cases the expectation of the customer of what will be done and what is paid for do not match.

    Customer Response

I appreciate that Advanced Renovations took the time to respond, however there are several issues with the response. We did not contact a separate company for painting. We hired Advanced renovations for the project, Advanced Renovations sub contracted the painting out to another company. When we reported paint issues to Advanced Renovations we were told that those issues would be corrected when all other work was finished. Advanced Renovations employees also touched up paint on the cabinet doors and trim with a foam brush and left blotches of uneven paint. We did have additional work added to the original plan, we did pay for that work. Clint went over what the extra materials and labor would cost for that work and we made a separate payment for that. I can provide those receipts to the owner if that is in question. The work that was added was when the drywaller was there and having issues removing the popcorn ceiling and needed to add drywall and extra labor cost. I would also like to note that it took over six weeks for the drywall portions to be completed because many days no one would show up, or the person that did show up would leave early telling us that he did not bring the needed materials. When I spoke to Clint about the drywaller not showing up when he was scheduled, Clint said that he was also having issues getting answers from that person but that they did not have anyone else available at that time. Clint later sent Mark out to finish up some of the drywall work. I have attempted to speak with Advanced renovations many times to address the issues that have still not been corrected. The largest issues being the flooring and the cabinets. I have text messages from Clint promising that he has ordered the replacement cabinet doors. I also spoke with Clint about issues with the flooring and how it was not laid correctly. I have text from him stating that the flooring can be fixed and that he will come out and go over the issues with us. We have not signed off on this project being completed. I am open to the opportunity to address these issues with the company and I am happy to provide the text messages, receipts, pictures of the issues, or anything else I can to get resolution.
