I burned a candle, made by Northern Lights Candle co., on Tuesday October 19, 2021, and at the end of the day I went to put the candle out and noticed soot up my wall and ceiling. The next day I proceeded to clean it off and was not successful at removing all of the soot, so I now I will have to paint. That is not where this ends. As I go through my whole entire house I am finding this layer of soot all over everything!! We had just changed the air filters the week prior and when I looked inside the compartment, just out of curiosity, I was shocked, horrified actually, solid black, all 3 air intake filters inside of our home, 2 upstairs, and 1 downstairs near where the candle was sitting, we’re all solid black. I blew my nose and it was black inside, I had my daughter blow hers and it was the same. Inside my kitchen cabinets, and all over my dishes was a fine layer of soot. Inside my cooking utensil drawer, eating utensil drawers, everything. Upstairs we keep the doors closed and the edges of the door frame, on the top edge of the door, the carpet under the door, all where the air tried to go through we’re covered in soot. I did not get a picture of the initial soot on the wall but after I realized how big the problem was I started to take pictures as I found new soot. The inside of my dryer even had a layer of soot. Anything that is plastic seems to have a thicker layer than other surfaces, maybe static attraction, I don’t know why but it is definitely thicker on plastic things. Even my pet water bowl had a layer of soot floating and ringed around the edges. I have reached out to the company to let them know about the problem and have not received any return email or phone call. I don’t know how much we breathed in that day but I am concerned for our health. I would also like them to stop selling this candle, and compensate me for my paint, cleaning solution, and time cleaning. And if any health issues arise that too.
