Additional Notes

Complaint: In July of 2010 masonry work was done on our chimney, to remove existing loose stucco, install galvanized wire lath & corner bead; install stucco coating over lath; and install 2 coats of white thoroseal and clean up debris. Apparently the corner beads were not of a galvanized material as in a little over a year rust began leaking through and running down the outside of the chimney. When we brought this to *** ********* attention he said he'd follow up and have the manufacturer come out. After repeated phone calls, beginning July 2012, he has not responded. It was a $6100 job. Other than the rust, the rest of the job is satisfactory.

Desired Settlement: Make good on the job: repair or replace rusting corners.

Business Response: Charles from the company left a message on 10/12. He stated that the problem occurred and the job was over a year old. The manufacturer of the corner beads only has a one year guarantee. There are a few specs of rust and the homeowner was not bring receptive at all and threatened the business. Charles stated that he will not take care of the issue after being threatened.

Consumer Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID *******, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

*
Threatening the business is a joke. On the 4th phone call we told you that another contractor had looked at the job and given an estimate to repair your work as well as confirm that stainless steel would not rust in 2 years. We said if it was necessary to have it repaired by someone else we'd send the bill to you.

Business Response: BBB spoke to Charles today. He wants to make clear that stainless steel was not used. He spoke to the manufacturer and there is only a one year guarantee on rusting.

Charles stated that this can be repaired by touching it up with thoroseal in about 5 minutes. When Charles tried to explain this information to ******, he became loud and threatening with a bad attitude. Not in a physical manner, but stating that the company was not a good company. Because of this bad attitude, Charles will not help the consumer.
