Complaint: one cold night this past winter, our furnace blew cold air....early that morning, i went to Collis office to request service.[they had been our service for 3 or 4 decades\..]] the man at the desk told me they would not do so as my new furnace was not their brand..he called it a 'no name furnace'...THEIR ADS say 'we service all brands'......a few days later , an elderly widow in our town who was ill and suffering broken ribs..called Collis as her home went cold...it was late at night, and she was told to wait until daytime...THEIR ADS claim service '24/7'......ps my wife and I are both in our eighties....i guess they can refuse their services like this, but should not claim otherwise in their advertising to the public..
Desired Settlement: either change the ads OR provide the services as advertised..
Business Response: BBB spoke to **** at the business today. The consumer saw a phone book ad and had an issue with what it stated. The consumer was contacted and the ad explained. The company policy is that any model less than 3 years old is not serviced. This is because usually there is a warranty that would cover issues, and the company that installed the furnace would have to come out to perform the service and take care of the warranty coverage. The consumer was happy with the explanation and seems satisfied.

the Collis ads that offer service '24/7' and ads that say 'we service all makes and models' are inaccurate and misleading..still..**** Collis did not satisfy the original complaint...sorry
BBB's Final Determination: After reviewing the position of all parties, BBB determined that the business made a reasonable effort to address the complaint. However the consumer remains dissatisfied.

Complaint: AFTER 2 ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR BOILER SERVICE TECH SAID BOILER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AFTER UNABLE TO REWIRE FURNACE PROPERLY INSTRUCTED TECH TO WIRE IT SO THAT I COULD MANUALLY FILL BOILER AFTER TECH LEFT I TURNED DOWN THE THERMOSTAT WHICH DID NOT TURN OFF THE BOILER I THEN HAD TO TURN OFF THE POWER TO BOILER THE NEXT DAY I CALLED AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO SECRETARY WHO SAID SHE WOULD HAVE SOMEONE CALL ME BACK THREE DAY LATER I CALLED AGAIN AND WAS TOLD SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME THREE DAY LATER I AGAIN CALLED AND WAS AGAIN TOLD SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME BACK IN THE MEAN TIME I BEGAN CALLING AROUND FOR ESTIMATES FOR A REPLACEMENT BOILER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BOILER COULD BE FIXED AS I REQUESTED AND WAS DONE SO BY ANOTHER FURNACE REPAIR COMPANY IN LESS THAN 2 HOURS THERE FOR I WOULD LIKE A FULL REFUND OF $299.85
Desired Settlement: FULL REFUND OF $299.85
