***************** is the owner of Quality Construction & Remodeling. We signed a contract for a remodel at our house for approximately $65K at the end of May 2023. We paid a 10% deposit at the time of contract. Work began June 20th and she required 50% of the remaining balance at the start of work ($28K). We paid and our nightmare began. I was out of town on business and my wife and 3 daughters were here. 2 guys showed up with ****** hammers and began demolition in the kitchen. They did not put up any plastic sheeting to contain the dust and debris within the workspace. When I returned on 6/22, there was dust and debris from the tile demo all over the downstairs of our house. It covered every square inch of our living area, hallway, kitchen, laundry room. This was the starting point of a terrible experience. *** suggested that we sub out the cabinets for the kitchen ourselves and recommended a person. We came to an agreement with them and this lowered the contract price with QC&R to approx $55k. We paid each and every time she requested funds in order to keep the job moving. She pulled her crew off several times to "finish other projects", once for 2 weeks, another time for 3 weeks. We purchased about 95% of all the expensive materials (quartz, pergo flooring, a door, plumbing and light fixtures, appliances). All she invested was 1 support beam, some misc plumbing material, 2 windows. She upcharged us for additional sheetrock, which we paid. Ultimately, we paid her in full hoping she would continue to completion. She told us after we paid in full that it would cost $5K per week til the job was complete so she could pay her crew. She walked off the job and said she would not complete it. "It is what it is". That's what she told us. $56k in her pocket and we had to pay cash out of pocket to other contractors to repair what she did and complete the job.
