Stated Purpose

World Care's mission is to provide humanitarian relief by recycling surplus materials and supply to create usable resources for health, education and sustainable communities worldwide. We believe in providing tools to those less fortunate and promoting an ethic of community service. We recognize the greater capacities of ingenuity, compassion, service, vision, and leadership, and seek to embody these values in all that we do.

Programs

Programs:

"Tools for Schools" Computer Refurbishing Program Our program fulfills World Care's strategic objectives for recycling and reusing resources by providing computers and access to technology year-round to students, their families, and low-income clients referred by area agencies. The program receives used computers from corporations, educational institutions, government agencies, and individuals, ones that might otherwise be recycled. The equipment is tested for its potential use and the operational units are refurbished by part-time computer engineers and college students.

"Tools for Emergency Relief"
World Care is able to respond quickly and efficiently with relief to disaster sites around the globe within 24 hours. Since 1999 World Care has provided humanitarian aid to more than 60 countries.

"Tools for Health"
World Care also provides non-emergency medical aid utilizing donated medical resources to build clinics, laboratories, and medical facilities worldwide as well as support for homeless and disadvantage populations in Tucson. In 2010 World Care donated over 55,000 lbs. of resources to numerous regions in Mexico to support education and border health initiatives.
Our Home Health Program provides low income families and individuals as well as the elderly with basic medical supplies and new and refurbished medical equipment. Donated equipment is matched and distributed to qualifying Tucsonans with either short or long term disabilities. World Care accepts gently used and new equipment from the public and utilizes a small core team of volunteers who clean, sanitize and repair the equipment.

World Care also offers a basic weekly 5-point wellness clinic (blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, weight, and temperature) with a nursing professional.

"Tools for Earth Recycling Program"
This program promotes the education, development, and implementation of cost-efficient recycling processes with partner organizations and communities worldwide. In 2010 the Tools for Earth program recycled 353,924 lbs. of non-usable items to collaborating recycling firms and diverting it from area landfills.
