Our beagle was diagnosed with Cushions Syndrome by a young local vet that was in single practice that was honest with us that she was not up on how to treat Cushions. And wanted to refer us to Ohio State. I struggled with the idea of traveling to Columbus for treatment and decided to see if there was a local option. I called the Animal Hospital of Tiffin and asked if they treated Cushions and was told they did and was given an appointment for the next day. That's when I met Dr Bob McClung. He talked to me about Cushions and how the standard of care treatment and how expensive it was and wanted to offer me holistic medicine that he developed and had great results treating Cushions with. He then examined my dog. He told me he felt a mass on his spleen and felt it was cancer. He convinced me that he was at danger of it rupturing if he fell on it. He said Cushions was the least of his problems. I questioned him about surgery on a dog with Cushions and he said he would just take a peek and he held up his fingers showing 2 inches. To skip forward with the story, he did the surgery opening our dog open with a 9 inch incision and called to tell me there was no cancer that his spleen was enlarged from the Cushions. I then said I wanted to proceed with the standard of care treatment for his Cushions and he said I would have to go elsewhere for that because he doesn't prescribe those meds. I was so angry. I go to pick up my dog and see his incision and become even angrier. He didn't come in to do the discharge. He sends in a different vet. I made it very clear that I will never bring another animal to that center and it w as very clear he knew nothing about Cushions. I said I have spent 1100$ on a surgery my dog did not need when I brought him there to be treated for Cushions and I am leaving with a sicker dog than I brought them!!
