This company originated in Van Nuys, California. They ceased operations in that city and relocated to Toledo, Ohio.
According to information in our files, this company is NOT to be confused with Makinghomeaffordable.gov which is the official Home Affordable Modification Program (or HAMP) of the Departments of the Treasury & Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Mail sent to the Toledo office of Making Home Affordable USA has been returned by the US Postal Service. It appears the company is currently operating out of several cities in Southern California and possibly elsewhere. They are asking consumers for large, up front reinstatement fees to be sent through FedEx or via wire services. They are NOT affiliated with the US government program as they may lead customers to believe. The official HUD program does not ask for fees to be paid for this reason, nor in this manner.
For information on the official government program for saving your home from foreclosure, please instead contact HUD for their HAMP program by calling 888-995-4673.
