Junior Achievement of Northwestern Ohio provides its education programs to 22,000 kindergarten through high school (k-12) students annually. Junior Achievement's programs bring over 900 professionals per year from the business community into public, private and parochial schools to serve as Junior Achievement instructors. In JA's unique approach, volunteers from the community present the JA curriculum while sharing their professional experiences with students.
Junior Achievement's school programs have sequential themes in which k-12 students put lessons into action. Junior Achievement programs prepare young people for the real world by using experiential hands-on activities to enhance student understanding of business and economics, and build the connection between education and the workplace. In 5-7 lessons at each grade level, students learn the principals of entrepreneurship, financial literacy, business, economics, and work readiness.
Junior Achievement uses hands-on experiences to help young people understand the economics of life. In partnership with businesses and educators, JA brings the real world to students. Through age-appropriate curricula, JA programs begin at the elementary school level, teaching children how they can impact the world around them as individuals, workers and consumers. The organization's programs continue through the middle and high school grades, preparing students for future economic and workforce issues they will face.
