This matter involves a broken refrigerator that was purchased from the company and is less than 3 years old. The company refuses to offer anything.
Although there have been several problems with the ********** refrigerator that was purchased from the company on or about December 8, 2012 for roughly $1,800 with tax, as of September 22, 2015, the refrigerator cannot be used at all. I have contacted the company when the refrigerator started having problems, specifically the bottom freezer. We had a repairman (*** ***** from ***** ********* Service) and, unfortunately, he was unable to fix the problem with the freezer. Some of the problems with the freezer include it freezing over and causing all of my food to be frostbitten. Also, the refrigerator makes a horribly loud sound but, when you open the freezer door, the sound stops. Due to the problems I have experienced with the freezer, I have lost a lot of money in groceries and have completely lost use of the freezer. However, as recently as this past week, the main refrigerator unit has failed to work with the temperature of the refrigerator at 60 some degrees and the freezer at 30 some degrees even though it is set at 33 and 0, respectively. As of now, I have lost all use of the refrigerator. After speaking with a manager at the company by the name of **** told me to contact the manufacturer because there is nothing they can do after the 1 year warranty has expired. After contacting **********, I was still not satisfied with what they offered me and how the company that sold me the refrigerator (Appliance Center) was handling the situation because I had spent thousands of dollars on items for my new house in December of 2012 and have a refrigerator that is less than 3 years old that no longer works and they were not willing to do anything for me. Then, I called Appliance Center on September 22, 2015 to speak with the owner. I was informed that he was not in and asked if they could help me. After being passed around to two different clerks, I finally just asked them to have a manager return my call. The manager, ****, returned my call, and I explained to him all of the problems I had been having with my refrigerator. Again, he said that Appliance Center could not do anything. After I explained that I was not satisfied with what the manufacturer offered me and wanted Appliance Center to stand by their product and do something for me, **** became very rude. He told me three years was a long time to have a refrigerator and that they would not do anything for me. During our conversation, I told him that I would be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau, and he flippantly said that no one is going to care about a refrigerator that is 3 years old. Unfortunately, 3 years is not a long time to have a major appliance like a refrigerator stop working. The retailer who sold me the refrigerator should stand by their product and, frankly, not treat their customers like I have been treated.
Ultimately, I am seeking a working refrigerator. Therefore, if the one I have can be repaired, I am seeking for the company to pay for the repair. However, if the one I have cannot be repaired, I am seeking a replacement.
I talked with **** ** (a manager) from this company. He stated there's nothing they can do for a 3-yr old refrigerator. You (your Mom) had been offered the 5-yr warranty plan at the time of purchase, but refused it. Therefore, this refrigerator isn't covered under any type of warranty. They've since offered to sell you a new item at cost.
