Don Mason Handyman Services gave us an estimate to repair all the mortar around the house and fix the eve on the back porch for $675. Speaking with a representative from their company, we were informed labor would be $575 and supplies should cost no more than $100, and Don Mason Handyman Services assured us the job would be done with a FULL CREW WITHIN A DAY. Appointment was set for June 23, 2014 for 8:15 a.m. When the day arrives, the so-called "crew" consisted of one man showing up at 8:15 a.m. without any supplies in hand. The worker leaves our property to go get supplies and doesn't return until 9:00 a.m. to officially start the job. He works for 3 hours and then leaves for lunch at noon. When he returns from lunch at 1 p.m. we ask the only guy working where is the rest of the crew? His response was "the other guy got called to do another job". Around 2 p.m. the worker leaves to get more mortar supplies because it obviously isn't enough to finish the job. After 4 p.m., less than half of the mortar repair around the house is done and a second guy shows up to help finish. At 5 p.m., only half the house is done, and they have stopped working because they tell us that they only work until p.m., and if they have to come back the next day it will be another $575 for labor. The bill for one day work was $757.70 ($575 labor and $182.70 supplies). Here are our complaints (which are pretty obvious). First, the job is half finished. Second, the company wants to charge us for second day labor. Third, they should of had supplies ready on hand since the job had already been estimated by the company. Third, working stopping at 5, but the worker left twice to get supplies. We talked to the company and told them that we were not happy with the results and the job was unacceptable. They said they would come back the next day (no charge) to finish it. Instead, they fixed one section of my east brick wall, but half of my house is still unfinished and left us a few tubes of mortar to finish it.

Solution #1 - We would like Don Mason Handyman Services to finish the job they were hired to do (which is to complete the mortar repair and secure the eve on the back). They have already been paid $757.70 (which is more than the estimate because they under estimated supply costs), and the result we receive is a half finished mortar repair job and no work on the eve in the back. orSolution #2 - Half our money back from Don Mason Handyman Services for a half finished job.

Our estimator & supervisor, *** ******, met with *********** to look at point up work to fix bad masonry joints on her house. An estimate of one day for one person to install a case of mortar caulk in the voided areas was estimated and a price of $575 plus materials was given. We set the work up for June 23. Once the technician began working, he discovered that the joints were in worse shape and deeper than could have been detected. As a result, 5 cases of caulk were used and it took an extra 1/2 day that the customer was not charged for. ON the first day she commented she was happy with the work being done. On the second day, she called and said she was not happy and was told we were still working to try and giver her extra work on a project that needed more time due to the unforeseen condition of the brick joints. Our contract states that "sometimes unforeseen circumstances" can arise, therefor changing the scope of work and requiring more labor to be charged.
After much discussion and this complaint we feel we could not satisfy her on this project and will refund her $575 charged for the work.
