I've moved quite a bit in my lifetime, I've never had such a negative and costly experience than with this company. They provided two workers. Instead of having one worker stay at the truck and the other one take the items to the truck, they both would take a load out at the same time, and would have to take time to unlock the truck, open the truck door, load it, shut the truck door, lock it, and then come up again. They started out moving time out of the residence fairly quickly, but after a while I wouldn't see them for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. I finally went out to see what was going on and they were just hanging out. It's wasn't even two hours into the job. Simple Moves quoted me for a 4 1/2 hour job, and it came to almost 7 hours because of the ineptitude of how they chose to load, seemingly running out the clock. They even had excuses, such as a random person telling them they had to move their truck, and they said they took time moving it. Later on in the day, they told me the same story, but they said they didn't move the truck. Which was it? If anyone had told them to move, they should have spoken with me first before making a decision. I signed the contract and cleared the area where the truck could park.I called Simple Moves today to speak with customer service, and a man answered, and when I asked to speak with customer service he said, "what do you need?" And I said, are you customer service and again he answered, "what do you need?" I've never had such an unpleasant and expensive experience moving before. I realize moving is a very physical job, and they came equipped with the tools to do it professionally (dolly, ramp), and the workers were friendly, and were communicative. I'm understanding that things happen, but for the job to take almost twice as long as quoted, because of the inefficiency, makes me feel very taken advantage of. I was never provided a post-move survey, but I'd like to hear back from their customer service department.Review from Steve B

Two of the three movers asked for a tip when they arrived to start the job. It was a small job, however its did entail moving from a 2nd story apartment to a 2nd story condo. They loaded the truck in such a way that not all of the items would fit. Once the truck was loaded, they said they would load the additional things in my vehicle. Then they asked how much their tip would be. I stated an amount, they told me that was not enough. That was the end of discussion on loading items in my vehicle, which they didnt do. As they unloaded, they just placed the furniture and boxes inside, did not move anything to rooms other than just inside the door, and continued to ask for their tip in cash rather than putting it on a card to the company.Review from Sam C

My experience with Simple Move was honestly pretty good. They did a good job at protecting our belongings, thoroughly wrapping them before putting them on the truck. The movers were polite and even joked around with my 2 y/o son. They weren't the fastest, which can be tough when you're paying by the hour, but it was done in a reasonable amount of time. I helped for most of the day carrying things out and then in at our new home to expedite things. After the day was over I would have given them a solid 4 stars. They scuffed our newly finished hardwoods pretty bad by dragging a blue-painted dresser for about 6 feet across the floor. That is honestly the only damage that I can report. Again, I was pleased with the service and tipped each of the three movers. It wasn't until the next day that I realized some of our belongings were missing from our nightstand drawer. Over $350 of electronics were stolen from us. For most of the day I let them do their thing. I didn't think I need to supervise them to ensure our stuff wasn't taken. Guess I was mistaken. Unfortunately, none of this can be proved. Damage can be documented and reimbursed for. The absence of your personal belongings cannot. It wasn't a good feeling and still isn't. We felt incredibly violated to have trusted these guys to transport our things from A to B only to have them pocketed when we weren't watching.Unfortunately, I can't justify a recommendation for Simple Moves. I would avoid them unless you want to take the risk.Review from L. P.

I am writing to report on a bad experience I had with Simple Moves. I had made the appointment approx. a month in advance. I received a phone and text message confirming the movers would be at the house between 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. At about 5:30 I called to check on status since I had not received a text saying they were on their way. I am not sure who I spoke with, but he said it would be closer to 6:00. OK no problem. 6:00 came and went, no word from anyone. I called the after-hours exchange multiple times trying to get some answers. 7:00 came and went, then finally the owner Chris ******* called approx. 7:30 pm. I was frustrated. I had taken the afternoon off work to take care of this business. I was going out of town on Thursday so I was very busy. I voiced my justified frustration to him. As the owner of the company I expected some answers. Instead he YELLED at me and said he had no idea where his crew was (really, you are the owner of the company and you don't know what's going on? Not a good sign!). I had him on speaker phone so my husband could hear him. Wow, not a very good way to treat a first time customer. He did have the movers come the next morning (again, had to take off work). The young men who moved me were very polite and professional. I tipped them each and thanked them. I am not a person who wants something for nothing, but this was a situation that was not acceptable. I was fortunate to have the flexibility to do this the next day. What if I had to be out of the house that night? Moving is very stressful and to be stood up by your moving company is terrible. I sent a follow-up email to Chris and this was his response: Unfortunately in life there are things beyond our control. We do anything and everything that we possibly can to make sure things go perfect day after day. But if a truck breaks down, our moving software acts up, a employee quits in the middle of the day. These are thing that are beyond out control. Most of the time our customers realize that, and show understanding, but not always. If you go to see a doctor, and he gets called away, do you ask him for a discount also? I have phone calls every morning from customers, that had there moving company cancel, or just not show up at all. We do everything that we possibly can We were able to rearrange our schedule to get you moved the next morning, which was not an easy task, but we did. I am sorry that things are not perfect, and there is nothing that I can do about it. I just wish that their was more understanding for things that our out of our control. I will offer you a 15% discount on your move and then consider this matter closed. If in the future, you need another mover, I think that it would be best to call someone else.Simple Moves Response

99% of our customers understand what is going on in today's world, and the labor shortage out there.. I so much wish that my customers could have been in my shoes that day. She was yelling and screaming at me, and there was nothing at all that I could do, no matter how much she yelled. There are moving companies that are canceling on customers every day because of shortages. It is not good for anyone. No one wants it to happen, but if it does, a little symphony for what the company would not hurt. I know we feel our customer's pain, I just wish they could feel ours, especially when things are out of our control. We cannot make grown men show up to work.Customer Response

My yelling was me firmly stating what kind of a business are you running that you do not know where your crew is. That it is unacceptable to not even inform me that I was not going to be moved until after I made several phone calls to the after hours exchange. You and your company did not handle the situation correctly. You were not reliable with no customer service.Review from E. T.

Scheduled move was started 1 hour late due to having to rent a truck, which should have been resolved prior to the time of the event. Rented truck was not clean and no proper precautions were taken to ensure safe, damage free transportation of personal property. Movers were not experienced in handling or wrapping furniture. When the final destination was reached my bedroom set was torn up! The legs were broken, causing unlevel and rocking, unless leaning against the wall. Lamps were destroyed and practically every item touched became damaged. The fellow who packed and stored items on truck also threw the sofa cushions on the ground upon delivery. This company was chosen because of their business card's AAA rating. ALWAYS investigate thoroughly before entrusting "Simple Moves" to your treasured possessions!Simple Moves Response

We asked you after your move how things went, the following afternoon you said. "So far so good thanks" So why over eleven-month later would you give us a bad review?Customer Response

My large boxes were placed along furniture to obstruct damages. A final disposition of services was withheld until survey was complete. Also, Covid restrictions for my residence required limited access of visitors. My request for the form to claim damages was ignored. I payed $100. "upfront" for the insurance that was for "protection against damages".
