In early December 2020, I called Dolinic Heating and Cooling for a bid to install a Trane furnace in my home. The owner, **** Dolinic, came. He was super, super nice. He gave me a bid of $2,500. I was happy with the bid and Mr. Dolinic. At the last minute, I thought to ask if that was for a Trane. He said, "No. That is for a Goodman furnace." (I had never heard of that furnace brand). I suppose, he felt he needed to remain committed to the $2,500 bid so he was vey reluctant to commit to a delivery date for a Trane. He knew I was without heat, so he was telling me it "might" be at least a week to 10 days or so before he could get a Trane for me. (Thus almost forcing me to take a Goodman or freeze until he could get a Trane). A couple of hours later, I called him back and told him that for a Trane, probably being a better brand, I would be willing to pay a little more to get a Trane. He later called me back, stating the price on a Trane would be $2,800. I was ok with that. Then, I was shocked when he added that he could install it in a day or two. (How could he go from telling me it would be at least 7-10+ days to now being able to install it in 1-2 days???) The installation went fine. I paid him in full immediately upon completion of installation. Then it was August before I noticed that there was a puddle of water on the furnace, running down the side and on the floor. Water was spitting out a fine mist from the air conditioner drainage hose. I did not know how long this had been going on as I don't go to the basement much (and it only misted when the air conditioner was running). I tried to tighten the hose, but water still misted. (I am 83 and not very strong). I then went to the hardware store and bought a better ?plier? (larger opening). This still did not stop the misting from the hose. I started folding thick towels to absorb the water along with adding a plastic container. I changed those 2-3 times a day. Feeling this was a residual "installation" issue (not a "repair" issue), I called Dolinic to have them come out and tighten the hose. Again, the owner came out. This time he seemed like a different person -- impatient, irritated, rude. He came in with a small tool in his hand, nothing else. He removed the hose and blew into it, and said the hose was clogged. I was stunned. I had never heard of a hose being clogged. I asked if he had a new hose that I could buy. He said he did not as he did not come in a company truck. He had an irritated, abrupt attitude. He then left. He was inside no more than 5 minutes. I then went to the hardware store and bought a new hose. It is working fine. I then received a bill for $75.00 (see enclosed). I think this is outrageous. 1) I did not call for repair service. I called for a post installation check on the hose. 2) They are the "experts." Why didn't they check the condition of the air conditioner hose when they installed the furnace? 3) If the owner anticipated such a simple diagnosis/solution, why didn't he just call me and suggest I check out the hose as it might be clogged, and that I get a new one? Or, did he foresee an easy $75 charge? I think billing me $75.00 is uncalled for as it was not for repair. 4) If the warranty covers 2 years free labor, why was I charged? 5) On his billing statement, Dolinic states he offered to replace hose -- he did not. I asked him if he had a hose I could buy. He said he did not because he did not come in his company truck therefore he had no supplies with him. The warranty is 20 years heat exchanger, 10 years on parts, 2 years on labor. this is what he told me when he gave me the bid. I cannot find it at the moment, but I swear somewhere (in print) later he states something like the warranty is valid only if homeowner purchases Dolinic's service contract which I think is something like $169 a year. I don't think this is right. It seems the warranty would be covered by Trane whether consumer chooses Dolinic or someone else. So my complaint against Dolinic is their charge of $75 for blowing into the hose and telling me I need to get a new one when he easily could have handled this issue by phone. I emailed Dolinic and told them I am submitting a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.

If you are looking for the worst place to work at, and the biggest scam in town please call Nick Dolinic Heating & Cooling! They will take your money, create more problems so it breaks again after few days and create some more invoices so they can place you on some no service list so they can get rid of you! Very poor and shameful behavior for a company!
