On a non-discriminatory basis, The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis opens doors to postsecondary education to students who otherwise do not have the financial means to fulfill their educational goals. The Scholarship Foundation serves more than 3,000 students who are planning postsecondary education or those who are currently pursuing technical, associate, bachelor, graduate and professional degrees. The Scholarship Foundation provides students with direct financial assistance by awarding interest free and fee-free loans (in excess of $3.1 million annually to approximately 600 students) and offering grants to a small percentage of loan recipients. In addition, the Foundation provides guidance and assistance to students and families navigating the financial aid process by conducting free public workshops and placing Student Advocates in schools with few college advising resources and high proportions of students from low-income backgrounds. The Scholarship Foundation also offers college preparation and persistence support, academic advising, and access to internships, financial, educational, and personal resources. Students are selected for loan and grant awards on the basis of financial need, academic potential and demonstration of strong character. There are two application cycles each year for students residing in the 16 county St. Louis Metropolitan area. Application deadlines are November 15 and April 15 each year.
