Complaint: On the evening of Friday, July 31st, I accidentally dropped my wedding ring down the air vent in our master bedroom. The morning of 8/1, I called Vogel Heating and advised them on what happened. The customer service rep at that time said they would send out an air duct cleaning vacuum that would easily suck the ring right out of the duct and that their truck would be there soon. The technician arrived later that morning but did not have the air duct cleaning vacuum. Instead, he poked around with no success in getting the ring and then gave me a bill for $274.00 which I told him seemed very high and that they did not send the right equipment per the person I spoke with on the phone. He said that the best way to handle this would be for me to write the check, and then call their billing department on Monday, 8/3 and explain the situation. I placed this phone call on the that date and spoke with a lady named ***** and told her what happened. She said that the people that answer the phones on the weekends are an answering service and that person must have been confused on what they were able to do as she said the air duct vacuum might have only pushed the ring further down into the air vent. I told her that I did not feel that I should be held responsible for an error made by their employee and offered to pay the $99 service fee and then asked that they refund the remaining $175. She said she would check with her manager and let me know something and that they would not cash the check. It was based on this information that I decided not to issue a stop payment order on the check with my bank as I was taking her at her word that they would work with me. The worker did come back a second time and got the ring. He gave me a bill that says, "NO CHARGE."I called again and ***** said she would check again with her manager and let me know.On the morning of 8/28 the check for $274.00 cleared my bank.
Desired Settlement: I am willing to pay the service fee of $99.I would like a refund of $175.00 since they did not send out the right equipment as requested.***** never called me back after the second conversation, instead they just cashed the check.
Business Response: Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/08/31) */ Mr. ***** spoke with customer to resolve issue on 8/31/15. We have issued a full refund including the initial $99.00 service fee. Customers stated they were happy with this resolution and that they would use us in the future.
