Parents as Teachers National Center Inc meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
To provide information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the early years of life; improving early childhood learning by developing and implementing parent education programs and training; advocating for and disseminating information about early educational intervention programs and related policy issues that strengthen families; and conducting research and evaluative studies on early childhood education, and early intervention and parent education programs.

The St. Louis-based Parents as Teachers National Center is the accrediting body for nearly 2,200 local PAT programs worldwide. Last year there were more than 1.6 million home visits to families with children ages prenatal to 5 years. The program includes personal visits, parent support group meetings, early health, vision, hearing and developmental screenings, and referrals to community resources as needed. The program goals are to increase parental knowledge of early childhood development, improve parenting practices, provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues, to prevent child abuse and neglect, and to increase children's school readiness and school success.
